The Group started in 2009, mainly as a Beginners’ Group, with two of us with ‘O’ Level plus. Over the years a number of other people joined with a reasonable grounding in German and the group continued as a mixed ability group. All the beginners have since dropped out and we are now a small, but fairly homogeneous, group.

We usually begin by watching a video in German with German sub-titles for about twenty minutes. We often use Easy German on YouTube, which caters for students at our level. We have also watched videos on the Rhine and Germany from above. After that, we talk about a subject agreed at the previous meeting. Over the years we have talked about a wide range of topics, including German politics, musicians and different countries of the world.

We sometimes listen to German songs.

We meet every Thursday mornings from 10.00am to 11:00am at Jim's house, except when Jim is away.

New members with some knowledge of German will be very welcome.
